Networking can be fun!

Networking has always been hard for us (surprisingly). But, it's how we build connections and found clients. It's a tool that will always come in handy!

These questions always pop into our mind:
"oh... should I introduce myself now?"
"Shit... I only brought 4 business cards and one went into the lucky draw!"
"Ugh.. how do I leave this convo without making it awkward."

We attend a handful of networking events monthly and we still get nervous. Meeting new people can be hard some times but you just need a few reminders to make sure you make the best out of each event.

  1. Bring your business card
A stack! You can never bring too many

  2. Arrive early
This allows you to get a good vibe of the event and start early on your networking and snag a good seat if there are seats.

  3. Ask questions
People love talking about themselves so ask awayyy

  4. Don't be afraid
Your 'Resting Bitch Face' won't be bitchy anymore if you just say "Hi!". As much as you're nervous to introduce yourself, people are too.

  5. A few conversation starters:
    - Have you tried the food?
    - What industry do you work in?
    - What platforms do you use in your work?
    - How did you find out about this event?
    - How many years have you been in the industry?

  6. Leaving the conversation
    A) Straight up say you're going to network with someone else
    B) "I'm going to check out this vendor, I'll catch up with you in a bit"
    C) The old "I'm going to run to the bathroom, I'll catch up with you"
The last thing you want is to be caught in a lie where you said you're going to find your friend when clearly you came to this event alone LOL.

  7. Always follow up
I always email the person that gave me their business card in the next day or two to thank them and to also re-introduce myself to make sure they remember who I am.

We hope you found those 7 simple tips helpful! We have also listed below a few networking events we love attending.
