Instagram "Creator" Profile Hacks
You’ve worked hard on your content, piqued some interest through a strong hashtag strategy, and now have a new set of eyes grace upon your profile. There’s a split millisecond for your hard work to come to fruition and make an impact as your target audience skims over your profile. Does it resonate? Did you make the cut? All your efforts in maintaining awesome content, fresh hashtag strategies and ample engagement goes down the drain if you didn’t put some serious thought into your profile and bio. Don’t lose out at the last moment by following our simple yet important Instagram creator profile hacks below.
#1: Add Line Breaks to your Bio
You’ve got less than a second for your new potential follower to understand who you are and what exactly you do. Having line breaks allows for information to be laid out clearly and instantly understood. No one wants to stare at an overwhelming blob of words!
#2: Linking other Profiles or Hashtags to your Bio
Growing another account or ramping up a hashtag campaign? Including a # or @ before a word or account allows users to learn more when they click on it.
#3: Alignment and Special Characters in your Bio
Everyone likes something special! Standing out is just the thing you’ve been doing and why not give it a little push by getting the right alignment and inserting a few special characters available from your word processing programs.
#4: Get a Seat on the Explore Page
The coveted spot on your audience’s explore page is king and you can increase your chances of getting here by having the right “Name.” The Name field in your Instagram bio is searchable and having words that highlight what your profile or business is about will give you a boost. Include important keywords in your name field to increase your chances of popping up when anyone searches for those keywords.
#5: Your Stories Highlights
Like real estate, there’s a prime spot for everything and the placement of your Stories Highlights is no different. The top spots are the four Stories Highlights directly above your grid. Show off your best in those four spots and make an effort to keep them there. Adding new stories to highlights will shift things a bit, but there’s a trick to keeping your best highlights on top.
Tap and hold on to the highlight you want to move to the front.
Click “Edit Highlight”
Tap the “Archive” tab
Select a story to add to your highlight and click done.
Your preferred highlight will now be at the front of the highlights thread.
Repeat this process until you have the top four highlight choices above your grid.
Go back to your highlights after and remove the stories that you temporarily added and don’t want to be included.
#6: Highlight Icons
Wondering about how to maintain a pleasing profile aesthetic and get the message across of what your highlight is about instantly? Yes, this can be done by uploading an Instagram Highlights Stories Cover without posting the cover to Instagram Stories.
Tap and hold the highlight you want to change.
Select “Edit cover”
Scroll to the image you want to set as your cover on the images available in your camera roll on the bottom of the screen.
#7: Presets makes maintenance a breeze
Having strong and recognizable brand aesthetics makes your profile instantly recognizable. One way of doing this is to have your images (both stories and posts) edited similarly to deliver a consistent vibe. You can dive into the nitty-gritty every single time you edit a photo or save time by using presets or filters. One easy way to do this is through the VSCO app.
